Lindsay Smith is the new Director of Strategic Partnerships for Business for Impact. In this role, she is responsible for building strategic partnerships with corporate, foundation, and nonprofit partners as well as the advisory group. Lindsay began her career as a campaign associate for United Way of Greater Greensboro. After a short tenure there, she worked at Guilford College where she started as the Assistant Director of Annual Giving for the Quaker Club. She was then promoted to the Director of the Quaker Club, before assuming the role of Senior Director of Annual Giving. Lindsay’s most recent role prior to coming the Business for Impact was Senior Director of Development at North Carolina State University. There she developed expertise in philanthropy, volunteer and program management, and community engagement while serving on the leadership team of the North Carolina State Engineering Foundation. During her time at NC State University, she is able to advance the mission of the University by strengthening the College’s community relations and alumni engagement through intentionally building and expanding community partnerships with organizations, community leaders, and key national organizational stakeholders to increase philanthropy, raising over $8 million dollars during her tenure.
As a purpose-driven leader with a strong mission-driven ethic, Lindsay consistently seeks to be a change agent using her skills to deepen connections between corporations and the community at large. Lindsay has a passion for public speaking and travel as well as education access/equity, women’s rights, mental health access in minority communities, minority financial literacy, and environmental sustainability. Lindsay received her bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with a concentration in Interpersonal and Organization Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then went on to obtain a Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies with a focus on Business Ethics and Social Change from North Carolina State University. Additionally, she has obtained a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University and a certificate in Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Strategies from the Governance and Accountability Institute in partnership with the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
